Unhappy With You (acoustic)

from Unhappy With You by Adam Behan

about

Written in 2012ish. Recorded shortly after. Probably should have made the album. I played this one live solo a lot.

lyrics

I admit that I'm impressed
It isn't easy to suppress
All the fairy tales you've been told
Since you were only two years old

And if a smile should find its place
Upon my pale complacent face
You don't forget to bring me down
That's why I still keep you around

I propose we tie the knot
And decompose until we've got
The sweet repose let our brains rot
To reality shows

I'm apathetic I confess
Our dreams like homes get repossessed
And we work ourselves until we die
But think of all the things we'll buy

More distractions, more possessions
Bored to death with our obsession
Dumb ourselves down six feet under
We don't ask questions or ever wonder

I suggest we just agree to spend
The rest of our lives playing pretend
We're not depressed, we're the best of friends

I prefer to make believe
I'm sure that you won't ever leave
And maybe we're not made to be happy

But I wanna be unhappy with you

I propose we tie the noose
And God knows I can take abuse
Then I suppose we'll reproduce
And be so unhappy

But I wanna be unhappy with you
